Eastern SeaboardThe Eastern Seaboard of the United States is the Atlantic coast from the eastern tip of Maine to the southern tip of Florida. It especially refer to the highly urbanized strip along the coast from Boston, Massachusetts to Washington, D.C., sometimes called the BosWash megalopolis.
The metropolitan areas comprised in the Eastern Seaboard contain over 44 million residents, or 16% of the US population, and four of the world's fifty largest metropolitan areas: Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington. In addition to the New York Stock Exchange, the White House, the US Capitol and the UN Headquartes. BosWash is the chosen hardquarters of ABC, NBC, CBS, the New York Times Company and the Washington Post. Six of the eight Ivy League schools as well as MIT hade made their home in this region. The Acela, the high-speed Amtrak train that runs on the Northeast Corridor travels on an electrified rail line along the length of the BosWash area. The major cities in the Eastern Seaboard are:
